Data Deletion Request

Under Rwanda Law No. 058/2021 on the Protection of Personal Data and Privacy, you have the right to request deletion of your personal data held by YoPay. This includes your WhatsApp conversation history, order records, and any profile information associated with your phone number.

Submit a deletion request

Include country code (e.g. +250 for Rwanda)

We'll send deletion confirmation to this address.

What happens after you submit

  1. We will send a confirmation to the email address you provide within 24 hours.
  2. We will locate all data associated with your phone number across all YoPay merchants.
  3. Your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of your confirmed request.
  4. We will send a final confirmation email once deletion is complete. You can also check the status at any time by emailing info@yopay.africa with the reference number from your confirmation.

Note: some data may be retained where required by law, for example financial transaction records required under Rwandan tax regulations. We will inform you of any such retention and the expected retention period. If you are not satisfied with our handling of your request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection and Privacy Office (DPO) at dpo.gov.rw.
